We’re excited to wish you “Happy Spring” and welcome you back for another edition of Elton Park Blog – your source for all the buzz in and around Elton Park Corktown. Spring is finally here to make our days brighter and warmer so you can step out into nature, browse a farmer’s market or discover the fun of Checker Alley

Detroit Outdoors
Detroit is not only a bustling urban area with a vibrant restaurant/shopping/sports/entertainment scene, it also offers some of the state’s most treasured natures sites to visit like Belle Isle; William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor, Eastern Market and the Dequindre Cut Greenway.
One of Detroit’s most beloved spring traditions will be modified due to the pandemic this year as Flower Day – a beloved Eastern Market annual festival that draws crowds of over 100,000 people each year – will be extended to a full Flower Season. Detroiters can look forward to nature’s rebirth – and the rebirth of our spirits – as the city becomes more vibrant and the community comes together again – safely and outdoors.

Cultivating Corktown
The city has seen an urban farming revolution take hold in recent years as enthusiasts, resident farmers and community volunteers work together to make Detroit a more beautiful, healthy and safe place to live. Corktown hosts a number of community gardens that are just a short walk from Elton Park including Brother Nature Produce, one of the area’s longest-standing chemical-free urban farms; and Labrosse Farm, a frequent farmer’s market vendor that has made a name for itself as one of the most celebrated urban farms in the city. Corktown is a base neighborhood for the Greening of Detroit – an organization that facilitates city-wide urban farming.
Bright Spring Wishes to you all. Enjoy your multi-attraction neighborhood and stay tuned for the next Elton Park Blog.
